Geometric stitches of Karnataka
Kasuti is a traditional hand embroidery of Karnataka, believed to have originated in North Karnataka and practised for generations. The craft, with literary references dating back to the 15th century, has traditionally adorned in sarees and household textiles. Kasuti is valued for its intricate geometric patterns and motifs inspired by temples, chariots, flowers, birds and other elements of Karnataka’s cultural heritage. More than an embroidery technique, Kasuti represents the skill, patience and artistic heritage of Karnataka’s craft communities.
